SOME SHAMELESS BACK-SLAPPING

Today, I finished the 1st draft on a contemporary romance. 60,764 words. Started it Feb 4, 2010 finished April 23 2010. YAY!!!!! High five!

When I set up this blog, I said I wasn't going to post about the travails of writing and maybe, trying to get published, there are far better blogs out there posting about the subject more thoroughly and more intelligently than I ever could.

But once in a while, I will post some news, like today!! I actually finished! What an accomplishment, I had been dragging my feet the last two weeks, so Monday, I cracked my knuckles and set a goal, I was going to write the last 7000 words and finish it THIS WEEK, and I did!

Now comes the fun part, rewrite, editing, etc. Thankfully, my teacher hubby is a real sweetie, he is my grammar guru, believe me, I need him, I do have some grammar issues, real mental blocks about certain aspects of grammar. I also value his opinion, and he makes suggestions, it is a real team effort.

Will I submit this to publishers? I have no idea. One step at a time. But the fact I actually did this, that I now have 3 Manuscripts done, hey, way cool. Plus, it is fun. Even if I never get published, who cares, this is a hobby I enjoy immensely.

Am reading "To Beguile the Beast" by Elizabeth Hoyt right now, suggested by PJ, Buffie (from The Romance Dish) and some others at my blog at Borders, I went to our tiny library and they had it! May do a review next week.

Also, Google now has pages! So if you look in the far left corner of the blog, I have added a Nathan Kamp Page (natch) and a page about myself, with an actual picture! In case you were curious.

I am taking a couple of days to relax. Whew!
So have a great weekend~

Congrats on finishing! It's an amazing feeling, isn't it? And it never gets old. You definitely deserve to celebrate!

Your Nathan page cracks me up. :D I thought of you today when I saw the potential cover art for a friend's new book for Ellora's Cave. I thought "Wowza, Karyn would *love* that hero!" I told her I'd blog about it when the cover was finalized. (Hopefully soon. The book isn't due out until November.)

Congratulations, what an accomplishment! Finishing a story is something to this point I have only distantly dreamed of :( I'm VERY good at coming up with excuses about why I haven't though.

OMG! Congratulations! That is completely and totally amazing, although, knowing you, not at all surprising. You write like a demon. You have to take the next step!
