A Good Rogue is Hard to Find
The Lords of Worth # 2
By: Kelly Bowen
Released April 28th, 2015
Forever

Blurb

HE THOUGHT HE'D SEEN IT ALL . . .

The rogue's life has been good to William Somerhall: He has his fortune, his racehorses, and his freedom. Then he moves in with his mother. It seems the eccentric Dowager Duchess of Worth has been barely skirting social disaster-assisted by one Miss Jenna Hughes, who is far too bright and beautiful to be wasting her youth as a paid companion. Now home to keep his mother from ruin, William intends to learn what's afoot by keeping his friends close - and the tempting Miss Hughes closer still. . . .

UNTIL HE MEETS HER

He's tall, dark, and damnably intelligent - unfortunately for Jenna. She and the duchess are in the "redistribution business," taking from the rich and giving to the poor, and it's going great - until he shows up. But even as William plots to make an honest woman out of her, Jenna will use all her wiles to reveal just how bad a rogue he can be . . .

For a moment, Worth looked stunned.  “What the hell did you drop down the front of your dress?” he snarled.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Jenna replied placidly.  She had gotten herself out of stickier situations than this.  Distract and deflect. She dropped her hands again.
“I demand to know what you took.”
“Nothing, Your Grace.”
“You have something in the front of your dress,” he snapped.
“I have since I was twelve years old.”
Worth started in shock before he swiped his hands through his hair angrily.  “You think this is funny?”
“A little.”  She was forcing a sangfroid she didn’t feel.
The duke let out a string of expletives better suited to the London docks.  “You have five seconds to produce whatever you have in the front of your dress, or I swear by all that is holy, I will rip your bodice in half and retrieve it for you.”
“Ah.  Is this your area of expertise?”
That stopped him short. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
Jenna smirked at him and cocked a brow.  “I thought bodice ripping might be part of your overwhelming charm.”
Worth’s eyes darkened even further.  “Very well, Miss Hughes, have it your way.”
God’s teeth, he was calling her bluff, and in truth, he had every right to do so.  Though she’d be damned if she conceded.  “Do your worst then,” she dared.
She watched as the duke’s hands went first to her shoulders, then to the edges of her bodice.  She felt the backs of his fingers brush against her bare skin as he curled them under the seam at the top of her breasts.  Jenna remained perfectly still, her breath caught in her chest and her heart thundering against her ribs.
He had long fingers.  Beautiful fingers, actually, covered in small nicks and scars and calluses that attested to the fact this duke understood physical exertion.  And they were tracing the neckline of her dress in slow, sure movements.  Her stays were suddenly suffocating.  The air around her had thickened.  Every muscle in her body had clenched, and it wasn’t in fear.  It was in anticipation.

Kelly Bowen grew up in Manitoba, Canada. She worked her way through her teenage years as a back country trail guide and ranch hand. She attended the University of Manitoba and earned a Master of Science degree in veterinary physiology and endocrinology.
But it was Kelly's infatuation with history and a weakness for a good love story that led her down the path of historical romance. When she is not writing, she seizes every opportunity to explore ruins and battlefields.
Currently, Kelly lives in Winnipeg with her husband and two boys, all of whom are wonderfully patient with the writing process. Except, that is, when they need a goalie for street hockey.

BOOK SPOTLIGHT: Taking Heart by TJ Kline @WriterTJKline #Giveaway #Contemporary #Western #Suspense

Taking Heart
Healing Harts #2
By: T.J. Kline
Released June 2, 2015
Avon Impulse

Blurb

T. J. Kline's Healing Harts series continues as a soldier suffering from PTSD and a therapy dog trainer find that some scars can only be healed by love...

Julia Hart knows how much good she does training therapy dogs—it's what helped her overcome her own trials after a relationship turned unexpectedly violent. But moving beyond her mistakes meant trusting only her family with her heart.

Dylan, a former soldier, has run out of hope for recovery. Plagued by nightmares and flashbacks, he doubts anything will help him overcome his PTSD. When his brother convinces him to try one last time, he agrees to get a therapy dog.

Dylan didn't expect to find Julia or a chance for a "normal" future again. But when Julia's attacker is released from prison, Dylan and Julia will have to face the past together.

Julia gasped as Dylan’s lips touched hers. She’d been thinking about this all night, even dreamed about it, but never thought she’d wake to find his hands stroking the edge of her jaw. His thumb traced the hollow of her cheek and she leaned into him, wanting more but afraid to ask for it. She felt Dylan tense as her hand lifted to his face, the rasp of his unshaved cheek sending fire through her veins and coiling in her chest. Tango moved at her feet, and she gave him a hand command to stay. There was no way she was allowing the dog to interrupt this again.
Dylan’s lips were soft and gently insistent, but his arms were confident as they moved around her back, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss like a man drowning. She clung to him, winding her arms around his neck, letting him lead the way. It had been so long since she’d felt any sort of yearning that she wasn’t sure whether to pull back or give more. She let Dylan guide her as he nipped at her lips, plucking them between his, stealing her breath and her ability to think. She was dizzy when he drew back only far enough to lean his forehead against hers. The sigh that escaped him was warm on her face.
She could see the turmoil in his eyes. She wasn’t sure whether it was regret or doubt, but she didn’t want to hear him try to apologize. “Dylan, it’s okay.”
His eyes were hot when they met hers. She saw the doubt in them but she also saw desire, and he didn’t try to hide it. “What is?”
“It’s just a kiss.” She was ignoring the fact that her heart was still racing, pounding against her ribs as her pulse burned through her veins.
He laughed but there was nothing pleasant about it. The sound was hollow and sad. “Is it? Is it just a kiss?” He tipped her chin up so she was forced to meet his gaze. She felt scorched by the heat she saw there. She’d wanted him to open up, to allow her a glimpse of his vulnerability. Now that he did, it frightened her. “Because that wasn’t just some kiss.”
“I know.” She hadn’t meant to whisper the words, but they fell from her lips without her bidding. “But . . .”
Dylan didn’t let her finish what she’d been about to say. His lips sought hers again, asking more of her without demanding, seeking what she wanted to give him freely.
Dylan leaned toward her, his hand at the base of her neck, his lips finding the hollow behind her ear, and she arched against him. He groaned deep in his chest, and she trembled in response, her body on fire from the simple touch. She’d never felt this way with any man before, but Dylan wasn’t like any man she’d ever known. Her fingers trailed over the side of his neck, and she felt his scar under her fingertips.
Dylan froze, every muscle in his torso tensed, as if ready to bolt. She could read his expression as if she were hearing the thoughts running through his head. “Dylan, don’t.”
He clenched his jaw under her hand. “Don’t what?”
“Don’t shut me out.” She heard the pleading note in her voice. “Please?”
“Julia,” he whispered, his voice strained almost to the point of being hoarse. “I’m broken.”
She wasn’t sure how deep his scars went beyond those he’d covered with the tattoos, or what other injuries he’d sustained, but it didn’t matter to her. She was beyond the point of thinking with her head. It might be another mistake, but Dylan made her want to trust herself again.
Julia let her fingertips trace the tattoo on his neck and to his collarbone where it disappeared beneath his shirt. “This doesn’t define you unless you let it.” She laid her open palm against his chest, over his heart. “This defines who you are, and this”—she ran her fingers over his head—“decides who you’ll become. We’re all broken, Dylan. Don’t let one bad experience outweigh the good ones.”

AEGIS: an elite team of ex-military men who will do anything for their country…and their women.

Fighting to clear her brother of murder, freelance reporter Sassy Smith is suddenly kidnapped and thrown into a truck with other women who are about to be sold…or worse. When she sees an opportunity for escape Sassy takes it, but she may have just jumped from the frying pan into the fire.

Former Marine Bryan Fisher (aka Hollywood) is no stranger to dangerous situations, or to his best friend’s little sister. When he rescues Sassy, Bryan is determined to keep her safe…if he can keep his hands off of her. Because Sassy is all grown up and not at all like the girl he used to know. But he’s got bigger problems. And with enemies coming at them from every corner, Bryan and Sassy will need to work together if they’re going to survive.

Bryan’s stomach tightened when he ripped the shower curtain aside to find Sassy asleep on the tub’s porcelain floor with her head leaning back against the tile. Her position didn’t look very comfortable, but as exhausted as she was, it wouldn’t have taken much. Steam floated around her, and the shower spray was hitting the wall two feet above her head.

“Sassy?” He kept his voice low, not wanting to startle her.
She never stirred, but she’d been crying earlier. That much was obvious from the red splotches around her eyes. And if the sight of her wet body in the shower hadn’t brought him to his knees, her tear-splotched face did.
God, please. Let him face another man with a gun and a grenade any day. He had no idea what to do with this woman’s tears.
“Sassy?” He spoke a little louder this time.
Was this just the shock of everything catching up to her?
Praying she’d just sat down for a moment and dozed off and that this wasn’t some residual effect of the concussion, he reached to turn off the still warm water. Otis must have a monster hot water heater in this place.
Ignoring the torque in his back, he grabbed the threadbare towel and borrowed robe from the countertop and reached to pull her up and out of the tub.
When he leaned down over her, her blue eyes flew open. Only then did she react. But not like he would have expected. She went wild.
“No, dammit. No. Don’t touch me … don’t ever touch me. Just stop! Stop!”
“Sassy? Sassy, it’s me.” He dropped the robe on her shoulder and leaned back in a squat beside the tub.
Her eyes were glassy and unfocused. She jumped to her feet and covered her breasts with one hand protectively across her chest. He sat on his haunches, taking in the sight of a naked, wet Sassy standing over him. Momentarily stunned, he never saw it coming.
When her other fist connected with his jaw, the cracking sound reverberated around the bathroom. Still in a squat, he tipped backward. His shoulder bounced off the countertop and he landed on his ass directly on the wet linoleum. He felt the jolt all the way up his back again.
Jesus. He’d forgotten she definitely didn’t hit like a girl. Damn.
The slap of his butt hitting the wet floor seemed to pull her from wherever she’d been. Her eyes widened and her mouth opened in a wide O.
“Bryan. Ohmigod. I’m so sorry. I … sat down to shave my legs and … I must have dozed off.”
The shock on her face no doubt mirrored his own as he rubbed his jaw. “Just glad you weren’t holding the razor,” he mumbled.
She started to reach for him, then stopped. He saw the moment she remembered she was stark naked.

Blurb

The pampered daughter of a duke . . .

Lady Arabella Tremont has spent her entire life protected and overshadowed by her restrictive father. But she is a Tremont, after all, and the morning after she is nearly ruined at a ball by a handsome stranger, Arabella’s father demands she make an arranged match with an heir to a dukedom. In desperation, Arabella takes matters into her own hands.

Takes a London holiday with the most unsuitable of chaperones . . .

Major Kingsley is in London to avoid to his parents’ dreadful house party. To his surprise he runs into the enticing - and unforgettable -- minx he met at a ball the previous night. Arabella, or Birdie, as he knows her, insists he owes her three favors-for he’s put her in a terrible pinch; Kingsley agrees, if only to delay his trip home and because the notion of spending the day with this enchanting bit of muslin is too tempting to resist. But all too quickly he discovers Arabella’s requests are hardly what he expected…

Arabella blinked and tried to make sense of what was happening. Truly, he needn’t promise such a thing. He’d already made good on that pledge.
She was utterly surprised. No, make that shocked.
“All that is left to do is slip off that mask of yours, so I can see the beauty that has all of London in your thrall,” he said, as his fingers reached behind her head to untangle the ties holding it in place. “Tomorrow morning, after I’ve discovered every delectable, delightful corner of your divine body, will you perhaps tell me what happened to Mr. Spenser?”
Mr. Spenser? There had been a Mr. Spenser? Arabella couldn’t help herself, she smiled. That was quite contradictory to what Lady Davinia had claimed the other day at her mother’s afternoon in.
They call themselves Mrs. This or Mrs. That, but there never was a “mister.” None whatsoever, Davinia had told her avid audience. And Lady Davinia would know. Her brother was the worst sort of libertine.
At least that was what Aunt Josephine had said at the breakfast table the next morning. She might have said more on the subject if Papa hadn’t shushed her.
Mr. Spenser! Oh, wouldn’t it be wonderful to steal a march on that gossipy Lady Davinia and tell her there was a Mr. Spenser.
Meanwhile, her erstwhile seducer was continuing to outline his plans for their evening, while his fingers did their best to untie her mask.
As he described his sensual ambitions for the hours to come, starting with how he was going to remove her gown, Arabella’s eyes widened and her mouth fell open.
Such things were possible? And here she’d always thought that book Thalia Langley had passed around Miss Emery’s had been naught but French nonsense.
Yet here was this gentleman offering to do exactly that and more.
More so, from the look in his eye. The odd shiver that ran down her spine all the way to that spot between her legs at the very thought of such intimacy made Arabella realize it must be very possible.
And very pleasurable.
In that instant, she saw the man before her naked—well, she could imagine that. She had, after all, seen the Elgin Marbles. But now she saw that perfect masculine form in a new light. In the flesh, warm and hot, covering her, his lips caressing her skin, his tongue sliding over her, leaving a heated, wet trail, until he came right down to her …
“Oh, my heavens,” she whispered as her body tingled with a dangerous anticipation.
He’d finished untying the knot and was slowly working the strings away from her carefully arranged hairdo. “Come now, Mrs. Spenser, don’t be coy with me. However can you blush so—when I have no doubt you are as eager to see if I can hold up my end of the bargain as I am to prove it.” With that, he caught hold of her hand and was about to place it on his …
No, not there …
Arabella snatched her fingers back and found her voice. “Sir! What is wrong with you? I am not Mrs. Spenser!”
Even as she said the words, he had succeeded in freeing her mask and it fell away, leaving her face bared for him, her identity his to discover.
Whatever he saw, whatever he’d expected to find, it obviously wasn’t she. His eyes widened and then he hastily ripped off his own mask to get a better look. And if the way his expression changed from darkly smoky to shocked was any indication, he had all too quickly realized his mistake.
“Who the devil are you?” His tone overflowed with censure. As if this was entirely her fault.
Arabella’s temper rose as quickly as her passions had. “Me? I can tell you who I am not. Some Incognita to be bartered and bandied with.”
His eyes darkened and he looked back over his shoulder toward the ballroom. “That bastard. When I get my hands on him—”
She caught hold of his sleeve and gave it a tug to regain his attention. “I think you should be apologizing to me, not looking for someone else to molest,” she huffed. “Why, of all the common sort of ruffians I’ve had the misfortune to meet—”
Truly, she’d never met one, but he didn’t know that.
Yet Arabella wasn’t done with him. “I suspect even Mrs. Spenser would find you beneath her.”
His wolfish expression returned in a flash. “I had had rather high hopes of finding her just so—”
Against her better judgment, she silently finished the implication he’d made.
Beneath me.
But it wasn’t the courtesan that Arabella saw beneath this man, but herself. Naked and willing. His touch had left her shivering, the brush of his lips leaving her to feel a beggar in his presence.
Take me beneath you, a very devilish part of her wanted to plead.
Instead, she folded her arms across her chest, tamping her desires back into the confines where they belonged. “You, sir, are most certainly not a gentleman.”
“If I’m not a gentleman, what does that make you? I will point out, you came quite willingly with me. What sort of milkmaid comes out to the gardens when a gentleman asks her to—”
“Oh, please do not repeat yourself!” she told him. “Do not ask me such a thing ever again!”
“Oh, please do,” came another voice. A deep and very familiar one. “I would like to know what you asked my daughter to do?”
But her swain had no time to answer, because the Duke of Parkerton followed up his question by spinning the man around, and then landing a hard-fisted blow that left the devilish fellow in a heap on the ground, out cold.

When Love Happens
Ribbon Ridge # 3
By: Darcy Burke
Releasing May 26th, 2015
Avon Impulse

Blurb
In a town as small as Ribbon Ridge and with a family as large as the Archers, even the best kept secrets don’t stay buried for long...

Tori Archer is married…well, on paper anyway. She hasn’t actually seen her husband since the disastrous morning after their impulsive Vegas wedding. The memories of their intense passion may still make her weak in the knees, but Tori knows their marriage was a mistake.

After six months filming abroad, television producer Sean Hennessy wants nothing more than to track down his sexy, captivating wife and get her into bed… fast. So when his boss sends him to Oregon to persuade the famous Archer sextuplets-the former stars of a reality TV show-to do a reunion special, Sean sees the perfect chance to win Tori back.

Only, Tori wants nothing to do with him and is determined to push him away. But their attraction is as hot as ever and Sean will do anything to prove their relationship was more than just a fling…because he knows that when real love happens, it changes everything.

Bollocks. Sean would rather jump right back on a plane to Europe and the shitfest he’d just left than go to Oregon. But maybe, just maybe, Mike didnt mean what Sean thought he meant. Portland had a rousing film and television scene. There could be any number of projects in need of his services. “Why?”
Mike readjusted his sunglasses atop his dark blond head. “Dale came up with an idea hes completely in love with and youre the man to make it happen. He wants a ‘Where Are They Nowspecial about the Archers. Following up on the sextuplets America fell in love with fifteen years ago is a great angle, but since one of them committed suicide, he thinks its ratings gold.”
Seans stomach dropped clear into the lower level parking garage. “I am not the man to make this happen, Mike.” In fact, he was about the last man who could make it happen.
Mike leaned his hip against the counter and crossed his arms. “Why not? Youre married to one of the sisters. You have the perfect in.”
Yeah, they were married, but for how long? The last time hed talked to his wife—via email of course—shed mentioned the D word. Sean hadnt responded. Hed hoped theyd find a way to make it work, but after so many months apart, piss-poor communication, and then her suggestion that they just call it quits, he wasnt sure he had any fight left in him.
“Its not been much of a marriage. In fact, were probably splitting up.” Hell, theyd been split up since their wedding day. Hed seen her once, visiting her in San Francisco before hed left for Europe, only to have her shut him out cold.
“If it’s not much of a marriage, why is her picture on your fridge?” Mike nodded toward a photo of Tori at the wedding chapel in Vegas. God, she was beautiful. Her auburn hair hung to her breasts in gentle waves that shed painstakingly curled before the ceremony, her blue-green eyes shone with anticipation. Getting married had been a lark, but theyd both agreed it had felt right. And it had. Until the next morning . . .
“Because I’ve been in Europe the last six months.” Sean pulled the picture down and shoved it in a drawer. “Look, I know you think I can make this show happen with Tori, but Ive got no advantage there.”
Their marriage had been over before it had even started. Her brother had killed himself the morning after their wedding, and she’d been understandably devastated. Her grief had completely eclipsed their joy and robbed her of any desire to make their marriage work. Fast forward seven months and it was time to call it what it was: a mistake.
Mike uncrossed his arms and took another drink of beer. “Im sorry things arent working out with you guys, but you know Dale wont give a shit. Hes got a hard-on for this special. You know how he is when hes got his mind set on something.”
Yeah, he did. Dale was an utterly immovable object. As well as a massive wanker. “What happens if I dont deliver? When, not if.
Mike glanced out the window and when his gaze returned to Seans, it held a glimmer of regret. “Ill have to let you go. As it is, I have to let someone go, and its between you and Hollis.”
“Hey, Ive got seniority,” Sean said. Hollis had only been with the company a little over a year. “Just let her go. Its a no brainer, right?” She was a bundle of ideas and energy, fairly fresh out of school, and absolutely bonkers.
“It is for me—Id choose you in a heartbeat. Shes a micromanaging nightmare. But it isnt up to me. Youre both getting projects that are do or die. Whoever delivers first or best gets to keep their job.”
Do or die. No ambiguity there.
