Excerpt: Candace had warned her about this. Tobias was a dark man with dark needs. Her friend had seen him in scenes, and the demons riding him brought an exquisite pleasure/pain to the women he submitted. Her friend had cautioned that Tobias might love her too much to visit his darkness on her. She’d done her best to prepare Ruthie for anything and everything, including his rejection.
As the silence became overwhelming, Marvin Gaye’s
voice faded out, leaving only Ruthie’s rough breaths rebounding through the
room. Candace’s words were a cacophony in her head now.
“I love you,” she said softly. It wasn’t a plea, it

has nothing to do with gentle. I’ve walked this tightrope with you for a year
now, and holding back is becoming harder and harder. My lust for you mocks me.”
He took a deep breath and Ruthie’s heart sank anew. “Your skin is so soft.” He
trailed a finger across her collarbone, over her shoulder, and down her arm.
“Your body is the stuff of my dreams.” His hands cupped her hips, fingers
digging deep.

Lea Griffith began sneaking to read her
mother’s romance novels at a young age. She cut her teeth on the greats:
McNaught, Woodiwiss, and Garwood. A firm believer that love makes the world go
round, she still consumes every romance book she can put her hands on, but now
she writes her own.
Lea lives with her husband and three
teenage daughters in rural Georgia. Two dogs, a cat, and a beta fish named
Coddy George complete a family that is always in motion. When not working at
the EDJ, she’s usually at her keyboard, using every spare second to write.
