Title: The Breakup Bucket List

Author: Cassie Cross

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About The Breakup Bucket List:

Ever since Lindsay Castillo was a little girl, she dreamed about living in Port City. As an adult, she learns the difficult lesson that dreams aren’t always what they’re cracked up to be. With a broken heart, an apartment full of boxes and a moving company booked, Lindsay jots down everything she wants to do before she leaves Port City and heads back home to start over.

She has a month to mark off everything on The Breakup Bucket List.

Evan Roberts is doing his best to live up to the high expectations that come along with having his last name. As Port City royalty, he’s been following a strict path to success since the day he was born. He’s looking for a little fun—something to shake up the monotony of his life—when he runs into Lindsay. He’s captivated by her and welcomes the challenge of helping her complete her bucket list.

It doesn’t take much convincing for Lindsay to agree; there are some things she wants to do before she moves that only someone with Evan’s access can help her with. What starts off as a simple partnership grows into more as Lindsay and Evan race against the clock and Lindsay’s moving day draws closer…

Leave me,” I say, plopping down on a stair right by the whales eyes. Save yourself.”
I manage to make it halfway up before my lungs and my legs threaten to give out. Im pleased with myself for getting this far, but Im gonna need about a 30-minute cool-down period before my knees feel sturdy enough to carry me up stairs again.
Because life is completely unfair, Evan isnt winded and he hasnt so much as broken a sweat. He must have amazing thighs. Maybe I sneak a glance at them, despite the unfortunate fact that theyre hidden under his jeans. He walks down a handful of steps so that were eye-level.
I can help you if youd like.” He looks kind of cocky about it, like he knew this would happen and had made contingencies.
Do you know of a hidden elevator or pulley system nearby? Are you handsome and able to teleport?”
I can carry you the rest of the way.”
I laugh. Sorry, not to insult you but feeling the way that I do I cant imagine being able to make it all the way up alone, much less carrying a woman of an undisclosed weight.”
He crosses his arms over his chest, as if to show off the very weapons he intends to deploy against me. His arms are a sight to behold. Im sure they could hold me, but its the carrying me up a few more flights of stairs that Im questioning.
Try me.”
Its not like I dont want to be cradled in those arms against that chest, its just…oh, to hell with it.
Have you ever done it before?”
Carried a woman up these steps? No,” he replies, not even bothered.
Then how do you know you can do it?”
He sweeps me into his arms faster than I can blink, and I let out a delighted laugh before I register just how high up we are. I wrap my arms around his neck and hold on tight, then instinctively bury my face in his neck, enjoying the ride but just wanting it to be over.
Im not gonna let you get hurt, Lindsay.” Its a full bodied, strong vow. I believe him, but still Id rather not tempt fate. I breathe deep to steady my nerves, getting a whiff of his soapy smell that relaxes me instantly. Its ridiculous to even think this, but he smells safe.
Like home.
But no, thats ridiculous. Hes just a guy showing me around town before I move far away forever.
As if the universe wants to prove that he isnt Superman, he does get a little winded toward the end, but its after weve already summited and are back on solid, flat ground.
Hey,” he says, giving me a gentle jostle. We made it.”
