GUEST POST: Canada is Cool, and I Don't Mean the Weather! by @KarynGerrard #Canada

There are articles out there saying 'yes we're cool' (Americans think so!) and some articles here in Canada that say we are not (thanks to who is Prime Minister) I won't bore you with the political landscape of Canada, instead, let's get to the cool stuff.

Canadian Music. Oh, how we rock the house. Jessica E Subject tackled this subject HERE and from The Guess Who, through Rush, BTO, Neil Young, Loverboy, Bryan Adams, and yes, I'll say it, Nickelback, we know how to make the amplifiers blow apart.

Canadian Leading Men: From Stephen Amell (Arrow) to Ryan Gosling and Ryan Reynolds, these hunks are gorgeous, self-effacing and can be funny as hell (hey, we're known for our sense of humour) Follow Stephen Amell on Twitter, he's a hoot. Look at that friendly, handsome face. YAY Canada!
He's also happily married and a new dad. Also follow Patrick J Adams (Suits) on Twitter, another cute Canadian guy who winks at life and himself.
(I'll save Canadian comedy for another post)

We sound like Americans, but write like the Brits. And no, most of us do not say 'aboot' instead of about. ;) We even use phrases from both countries just to confuse the hell out of everyone.

Pissed (American) to be mad
Pissed (UK) to be drunk

In Canada we use both...and in one sentence!

"Man, I'm pissed off you're pissed!"

We've had gays in the military for decades. Gay marriage has been legal here since 2005. We have universal health care. Not as good as Europe, but it will do. No worries about going bankrupt if you are hospitalized. Is it perfect? No. But it works on triage. You come into emergency with an in-grown toenail, yeah, you're going to have to wait. But if you're really sick? Canada has your back.

The country is HUGE.  WIKI:  Canada Listeni/ˈkænədə/ is a country in North America consisting of 10 provinces and 3 territories. Located in the northern part of the continent, it extends from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean. At 9.98 million square kilometres in total, Canada is the world's second-largest country by total area, and its common border with the United States is the world's longest land border shared by the same two countries.

Okay, I will admit during the winter with the exceptions of the east and west coasts and southern Ontario, Canada can be cold, as in brrrr. But, we are hardy stock, and no, you don't need a parka in the summer, I swear.

We are in the upper top of global lists, for education, wealth, safe place to live, and longevity. We do rock. We are cool! Not perfect, but we're doing okay, eh?

But who are the coolest of all? Romance writers of Canada. These chicks know how to spin a hot, sexy tale and the ladies at this blog are no exception. Next year, there will be a romance convention in Ottawa (Canada's capital) Check it out HERE. And check out Canadian romance authors books!

Canada.

True North. Strong. And hell yeah...FREE.

Pass the maple syrup.

Karyn Gerrard Bio:

Karyn lives in a small town in the western corner of Ontario, Canada. She wiles away her spare time writing and reading romance while drinking copious amounts of Earl Grey tea.

Tortured heroes are a must. A multi-published author with a few best-sellers under her belt, Karyn loves to write in different genres and time periods, though historicals are her favorite. As long as she can avoid being hit by a runaway moose in her wilderness paradise she assumes everything is golden.

Karyn’s been happily married for a long time to her own hero. His encouragement keeps her moving forward.
